Canadian Government Dept. awards contract for unstructured data management

Acaveo, a provider of File Analysis software for analysing and managing unstructured data, has been awarded a Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP) contract to deploy its software at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).

Under this contract, Acaveo will centrally analyse and manage large volumes of unstructured data, generated by over 25,000 employees.

Acaveo's enterprise software provides full visibility into data location, type and access to identify the value and risk associated with employee-generated data. IT and data managers benefit from detailed metadata and contextual information, to enable optimized information governance and storage management. ESDC will also benefit from the business use of data that was previously deemed "dark".

Ron Mac Donell, CEO of Acaveo, said, "We are pleased by the opportunity offered by the government's BCIP program to introduce innovative technology into the federal government.

“This holistically empowers the organization to make more informed decisions regarding data classification, information governance, storage management and content migration strategies."
