Adaptec Helps SMBs Snap Into Shape

October 4th, 2006: Adaptec has introduced three new network storage systems to its Snap Server range, promising cost-effective storage solutions for the desktop or rack.

With capacities of 160GB to 2TB, Adaptec’s Snap Server 110, 210 and 410 also come with its GuardianOS operating system. This gives the three new servers, all aimed at small to medium sized businesses (SMBs), the same software platform that runs on midrange Snap Servers. For example, the three offer unified block (via. iSCSI) and file support, as well as optional enterprise-class applications for data replication, disk-to-disk backup and disaster recovery.

The company also claims that the Snap Server 110, 210 and 410 deliver exceptional performance, citing tests by VeriTest, the testing service of Lionbridge. VeriTest reported that Adaptect’s new line outperforms competitive offerings by up to 62 percent.

Adaptec says that its Snap servers are ideal for SMBs or remote branch offices with minimal or no IT resources. Because it is aiming at the lower end of the market, the company has also priced its new line accordingly, with the Snap Server110, 210 and 410 priced between US$500 and US$3,000.
