EMC Leads Storage Virtualisation Race

EMC Leads Storage Virtualisation Race

March 16th, 2006: EMC is ahead of the pack when it comes to the SV according to a survey by Goldman Sachs.

Goldman Sachs' most recent tech' survey states boldly that EMC is leading the race in Storage Virtualisation. This comes in the period as EMC boss, Joe Tucci, is reported as saying that given the opportunity he would purchase another ten Vmwares - the server virtualisation company now owned by EMC since 2004. Tucci was even more upbeat about the lead that VMware has taken in the race for virtualisation.

According to Jennifer Mears, reporting in Networkworld, Tucci said the following at a recent Goldman Sachs Technology Investment Symposium, "EMC is in a good position as VMware competitors such as XenSource and Microsoft emerge and the virtualisation of x86 systems proliferates… We have a tremendous lead."

Tucci continued his bullish line on Virtualisation, saying that in 2006 it will be one of the "game-changing technologies" not on for EMC but for the market in general. Further dismissing claims that VMware would be sold off by the parent company, Tucci stated, "I believe VMWare is a tremendous asset, and that separating it would be huge mistake."
