Microsoft adds storage support to Exchange

Microsoft has increased its storage support to Exchange Server 2003 in order to facilitate customer configuration of systems incorporating network attached storage (NAS) and Internet Small Computer Systems Interface (iSCSI) devices.

The enhanced support will allow customers to deploy and maintain Exchange 2003 database files on NAS systems, as well as enabling them to take advantage of the latest iSCSI technology to move storage traffic over IP networks.

Exchange Server customers have been asking us for the ability to utilise iSCSI and NAS storage devices in an Exchange environment," explained Kevin McCuistion, director of Exchange marketing at Microsoft.

McCuistion added that the new storage options would be particularly valuable in small business and remote office scenarios.
