Month Date, 2006: Australia’s second largest online auction site, Oztion.com.au will tackle its increasing transactional volume traffic through EMC’s new CLARiiON CX3 UltraScale storage infrastructure.

With over 450,000 items online for auction and purchase, Oztion is already to upgrade its legacy storage infrastructure after just two years in the business. The company is expecting demands to lift event further over the next few years with significant rises in web traffic and transactions projected.

Oztion’s managing director, Philip Druce says to divert the risk of losing customers, the priority was to find a storage platform that would not disrupt the service or invoke network downtime.

“We were looking for a system that provided an upgrade path to a larger storage array and a hardware offering that offered 99.999 percent uptime,” says Druce.

According to Tim Clemens, southern region sales direction for EMC, Oztion’s enhanced website infrastructure will boost it’s ability to grow memberships quickly, without having to worry about the increased traffic.

“The company can undertake their aggressive expansion plans quickly and be sure that their auction service will be operational at all times,” says Clemens.

EMC’s Clariion CX3 UltraScale storage platform includes web services, mail and messaging systems alongside distributed applications.
