Cadac Organice has teamed up with hosting provide Rackspace to offer SharePoint-based engineering document management and control in the cloud.

The  new cloud solution  can be used instantly and includes the Cadac Organice Product Suite for engineering document management and control functionality.

The company now offers on-premise and hosted solution based on SharePoint, and says the door is open for a hybrid solution. This would allow companies to manage part of their documentation and information on-premise and another part in the cloud, while users can work seamlessly and transparently in both environments.

It provides the example of a company managing as-built information on buildings, plants and installations on-premise and temporarily uploading project and maintenance information to a hosted environment to collaborate on these documents with external partners. After project close, these documents can be moved to on-premise to update the as-built documentation.
