SharePoint 2013 uptake on the rise

Organizers of the upcoming SharePoint Conferences Sydney (15-16 July) and Auckland (22 & 23 July) have announced the findings of their APAC survey of SharePoint corporate and government users.

Some of the findings include the following statistics:

  1. More than 50% or organisations are still running SharePoint 2010, although SharePoint 2013’s share is growing (SharePoint 2007 15%, SharePoint 2013 35%, Office365/SharePoint Online 25%)
  2. Judgement of the success of the deployment of SharePoint as an Intranet/SharePoint environment was mixed, with almost half responding it was going “Just OK”
  3. Challenges around integration with SharePoint and confusing user experience were seen as obstacles to uptake of OneDrive and OneDrive for Business?
  4. The importance of records management to the organization was seen as essential by 45% of respondents owing to compliance regulations/.

More than 75% are already developing business workflow in SharePoint, like this user who responded, “We have a handful of processes put on SharePoint. In conjunction with business stakeholders, I have taken manual paper based forms and developed them in InfoPath forms with SharePoint OOTB workflow.”

Another observed,” Yes, we take current process maps and evaluate them to find a current process that would work well in SharePoint, develop and test, deploy get feedback and improve. Pick another process and repeat as above. “
