AvePoint embeds SharePoint into Office

AvePoint has launched a new tool to enable easy access to SharePoint from within an email, a file, or desktop, known as AvePoint Office Connect

It merges content from Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows File Explorer into SharePoint without having to leave the application interfaces. Co-workers can easily collaborate on key documents, and can extend sharing to users outside the organisation while maintaining content security.

It enables saving content to SharePoint from multiple applications and setting up favourite SharePoint locations. Drag-and-drop emails or email attachments directly from Outlook into SharePoint via a Outlook plug-in, as well as automatically capture Outlook metadata attributes – such as To, From, Date, Subject – to map them into destination SharePoint library metadata fields.

When saving content from user inboxes, desktops, and network drives directly into SharePoint, AvePoint Office Connect enables you to apply metadata upon your content’s entry to SharePoint in order to improve the findability of information and bolster records management efforts.

“Familiarity with pre-existing applications often reduces SharePoint adoption and can result in an exorbitant amount of information stored on users’ desktops or shared through file shares and email,” said George Petrou, Chief Technical Officer, AvePoint.

“AvePoint Office Connect streamlines communication and information sharing across the organisation by simplifying the process of saving information to SharePoint and allowing users to access SharePoint without ever having to leave the applications they use most to get work done.”
