Virtual Desktop From Anywhere

July 19, 2007: Ericom is promising secure access to virtual desktops around “anytime, anywhere” with its new PowerTerm WebConnect DeskView software.

When using Terminal Services, the company claims that only 70-80% of users are typically able to take full advantage of services. The rest are left with a partial service due to application compatibility issues and underlying IT requirements.

Ericom says its software enables enterprises to achieve 100 percent desktop virtualisation using a combination of Virtual Desktops and Windows Terminal Servers, reducing the cost of managing PCs, enabling secure remote access and improving business continuity / disaster recovery capabilities.

Running on virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Microsoft and Xen, PowerTerm WebConnect features centralised administration and platform management as well as management of virtual desktops and desktop pools. It also includes enhanced security with SSL VPN integration, two-factor authentication and RSA SecurID support, and support for both Windows and Linux desktops and thin clients.
