Brocade Announces New High Performance Switch
July 27, 2007: Brocade has today announced it will provide 4gb/sec switches for the Hewlett Packard (HP) B-Series network storage portfolio.
Network storages solutions provider, Brocade’s 5000 Switch offers enterprise-class performance for Storage Area Network (SAN) providers. The high performance 4 Gb/sec switch comes with ports on demand capabilities to enable scaling from 16 to 24 or 32 ports.
The new units will embrace the focus on reducing power consumption to reduce SAN operating costs. The Brocade 5000 is aiming to consume 76 percent less power than competing products on the market, a development which would cut cooling costs and reduce power requirements.
“The HP B Series family spans the embedded to enterprise market" said Kyle Fitze, Director of HP’s SAN Division. Combining the capabilities of HP and Brocade switches, the companies aim to address “customer concerns about power and cooling in their data centres” Fitze said.
