Content Protection Goes 2.0

June 13, 2007: Websense has announced the next generation of its information leak prevention software and says it’s the only solution that will provide context to data and intelligent policies based on who is sending the data and where.

The Websense Content Protection Suite v6 marks Websense’s first release utilising the technology capabilities gained through their acquisition of PortAuthority earlier this year and is designed to allow organisations to securely harness the potential of Web 2.0 sites.

Websense says they’ve achieved a number of industry first with this latest released. Firstly, its ability to integrate leak prevention capabilities with Web categorisation and filtering which Websense says, will allow automated enforcement of information access – and where the information ends up.

With these increased capabilities, Websense says organisations can now use online business productivity applications like Web 2.0 sites, with the confidence their information is fully protected.

Joel Camissar, ANZ country manager for Websense says the release is based on strategic technologies gained through the PortAuthority acquisition. “What Websense does with its unique context, fingerprinting, Web intelligence and other technologies, is protect information that is important to our customers so they can mitigate risk – simply and easily,” he says.

To highlight the importance of integrated information leak prevention and Web security technologies, Websense quotes figures released by the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse in the US that fins over the last two year, data leaks have compromised more than 150 million personal data records.
