Cloudian cuts Enterprise Vault archiving costs

Cloudian, an object storage provider, has announced a new certification with Veritas Enterprise Vault. By employing the company’s exabyte-scalable HyperStore storage, Cloudian claims that Enterprise Vault archive costs can be reduced by up to 70 percent compared to NAS and tape-based systems.

Enterprise Vault users can now employ Cloudian’s HyperStore object storage platform as a Veritas-certified vault store for their email, files and other corporate and regulated data to help simplify data management and lower storage costs.

Cloudian HyperStore is designed to reduce operational costs by allowing IT managers to consolidate information to a single, geo-distributed system that can span multiple sites, including on-premises and public cloud.

Unlike conventional disk and tape storage types that periodically require labour-intensive storage migrations, Cloudian’s storage platform allows equipment to be updated without disruption. The system’s integrated WORM feature provides immutable data storage, allowing users to meet regulatory requirements in such sectors as healthcare, financial services and government.

“Veritas Enterprise Vault provides a foundation for intelligent information lifecycle management and supervision/discovery,” said Jyothi Swaroop, vice president of product marketing at Veritas.

“When combined with Cloudian, this integration gives IT managers new options to consolidate and protect their archives on exabyte-scalable object storage, resulting in less management workload and lower costs.”
