SMC Unveils Speedy Storage for SMBs

April 26, 2007: SMC Networks has announced two new TigerStore NAS storage devices for SMBs with tasty 3 terabyte capacities.

The aptly named SMCNAS04 can cram in four 750GB SATA drives for a total 3TB, while the SMCNAS24 comes with four 250GB drives built in for 1TB total storage out of the box.

SMC boasts that the two come with four gigabit Ethernet for network speed capabilities of 400Mbps - the fastest transfer rates in the industry it claims. Both support RAID 0, 1, 4, and 5, and will be JBOD and BIG capable in the future.

The devices also include three USB 2.0 ports, an FTP server and USB Print server, disk space quota management, event logging, UPnP and DLNA support, media server capabilities, hardware health monitoring and a full SMB backup software application.

“Networking is all about accessibility,” says SMC Networks Vice President of Marketing Tony Stramandinoli. “Our NAS products provide the ultimate in accessibility on multiple levels: network-wide availability, fail-safe RAID storage, additional network connections via the built-in 4-port Gigabit switch, backup software, USB connectivity, support for UPS power backup and more.”
