HP Offers SMBs Simple D2D Backup

HP Offers SMBs Simple D2D Backup

March 12, 2007: HP has introduced a new disk-based backup and recovery system for SMBs that it says, makes data protection and disaster recovery simple, reliable and affordable.

Three very important terms for SMBs without an IT department, and ones that HP is attempting to address with the StorageWorks D2D Backup System and it’s automated and centralised backup.

HP says that the disk-to-disk (D2D) Backup System integrates into existing network-based IT environments and can be configured and managed in three steps. It provides backup for up to four servers in a single self-managing device which automates daily backups, reducing the risk of human error and hardware problems.

The company claims that the system is 50 percent cheaper than competing solutions and features an iSCSI interface that plugs into a standard Ethernet network and a setup wizard that allows customers with little or no storage experience to configure the device.

“The HP StorageWorks D2D Backup virtually eliminates the main causes of failed backups and slow restores,” says Ashraf Helmy, Marketing Manager, StorageWorks, HP Middle East. “Like our HP StorageWorks All-in-One, we designed it with the SMB in mind to deliver the most simplicity, reliability and affordability in one intuitive, integrated package.”
