Symantec Vaults Intelligent Archiving

February 6, 2007: Symantec has unleashed its Enterprise Vault 7.0, providing intelligent archiving capabilities alongside content storage that interprets compliance requirements

Symantec’s latest archival solution responds to the call for data retention and need for supporting ediscovery and knowledge management tools.

Francis deSouza, vice president of the Information Foundation Group Symantec, believes electronic content is a challenge and one that requires an IT solution for scaling its risk. “Managing more than eight million mailboxes for nearly 5000 customers worldwide, Symantec Enterprise Vault reduces IT and legal costs and information risk.”

Symantec says that because not all information is created equal, organisations need to manage data through intelligent archiving, which will determine information’s value. The Enterprise Vault 7.0 offers updated intelligent classification capabilities for data preservation based on business value.

The Vault 7.0 enables users to archive data using automatic classification schemes based on predetermined polices that are sensitive to compliance requirements. Symantec says users can also determine their own classification schemes upon creating or receiving messages while also integrating data into already deployed records management systems.
