RSA and Decru Bond Over EDP

February 9th, 2007: NetApp’s Decru and EMC’s RSA security have put their talents together to create a new enterprise data protection solution.

Decru will be contributing its DataFort security appliances to the solution while RSA’s part of the deal will see it contribute its Key Manager software. Decru claims that DataFort helps to automate and simplify data management in heterogenous environments, while RSA’s Key Manager handles key lifecycle management by enabling businesses to control encryption keys via centralised, secure and simplified administration for all applications.

Apart from offering their customers enterprise data protection (EDP) solutions, the two say that they are also planning to collaborate on the development of common standards for enterprise-wide encryption and key management.

In recent years, enterprise and government customers have come under tremendous regulatory and business pressure to secure sensitive and confidential data. This task has been complicated by the nature of the enterprise infrastructure, which incorporates a wide variety of applications, operating systems, networks, and storage vendors. Despite the clear need for information-centric security, enterprises have been reluctant to create encryption deployments without a unified policy and key management infrastructure. Decru and RSA are teaming up to directly address this customer challenge, and
