FalconStor, EMC Retain Friendship

February 13, 2007: FalconStor has announced it will extend its technology supplier relationship with EMC Corporation until 2013.

FalconStor says that its work with EMC has enabled the two to lead the open virtual tape library market since 2004. Together, they provide virtualised storage solutions for data protection.

With a co-developed software management platform based on the EMC UltraScale architecture, both companies provide an EMC branded family of disk libraries and intelligent open systems backup and recover solutions

EMC says together over just two years, EMC and FalconStor have managed to deliver more than 70 petabytes of EMC Disk Library capacity. “EMC will continue to meet the demands of this rapidly growing market through high-performance disk-based backup and recovery solutions that are easy-to-deploy and use,” says Barry Ader, senior director, Storage Platform Marketing, EMC Corporation.

Bernie Wu, vice president of business development, FalconStor, says the renewed agreement with EMC solidifies FalconStor’s leading position in the VTL software market. “We look forward to strengthening organisations’ backup operations by delivering the most advanced and robust VTL solutions available today,” he says.

The news comes as EMC this week announced it would part with ten percent of its VMware subsidiary.
