HP Tackles Virtualisation

February 16, 2007: HP eases up virtualisation for businesses of all sizes through the release of a new version of the HP-UX 11i operating system and new HP Integrity servers.

The HP-UX release alongside the new server offerings are designed to bring mission-critical virtualisation to customers looking to make the move towards the next-generation data centre.

HP says the latest release will make virtualisation easier to deploy and deliver mission-critical effects by combining the benefits of virtualisation and mainframe-class availability. Applications such as business intelligence and data warehousing will be simpler to secure and manage.

The HP Integrity server line-up has been spruced up through the release of a model for BladeSystem c-Class environments and a new rack-optimized unit, the Integrity rx2660 entry-class server.

Robert Becker, business development manager, Business Critical System at HP Australia, believes the potential of these latest releases will contribute to HP’s ability to deliver on reduced carbon emissions.

“A growing number of Australian organisations that are looking to reduce carbon emissions through rationalising legacy data centre infrastructure can now adopt this HP technology to help make this a reality,” he says.
