Hudson: IT Employment Strong

January 16, 2007: A recent report from Hudson has revealed that IT firms are on the upgrade, with plenty of opportunity for IT professionals on the horizon.

Although there was a slight decline in IT employment at the end of 2006, Hudson says IT industry employment in Australia will be strong in early 2007.

Hudson, a recruitment agency, surveyed 7,104 employers nationally and found that almost half of those in the IT industry plan to increase permanent staff levels during the March 2007 quarter. The best place to find work is in Queensland, where 72.9 percent of employers are expecting to increase staff.

Hudson believes the strong sentiment for employment growth in IT reflects the continued investment in new and updated technology. “Employment sentiment continues to grow within these sectors due to the ongoing focus on new and innovative products and services, increased technology adoption rates across household consumer and business consumers, and fierce competition within the sectors,” says Martin Retschko, director of the IT and Telecommunications sector for Hudson.

“The Australian economy has also proved to be a viable place to invest for many multinational IT and T (Telecommunications) organisations looking to service the region,” says Retschko.
