DataCore Brings Disaster Recovery to SMBs

January 19th, 2007: Disaster recovery no longer needs to be wishful thinking for small to medium sized businesses according to DataCore Software, as it has just released a swag of new recovery and business continuity solutions.

The company says its new offering includes provisioning to automate the use of storage capacity, SANmotion to simplify data migration and a complete range of auto-failover, auto-recovery, and advanced IP SAN mirroring data protection services.

DataCore describes typical disaster recovery solutions as “pricey” and claims that not only is its solution cheaper, but also superior to toda’s limited storage arrays. Its disaster recovery and business continuity packages are each priced at under $10,000, including a year of customer support and software to manage two separate, 3TB SANmelody virtual storage servers.

"When we looked at the marketplace we found a real gap that needed to be filled," says DataCore president and CEO George Teixeira."The total cost of a working system, the high cost of entry and the lack of flexibility and software utility are the real barriers in the SMB space.”

Teixeira says that SMBs just can't afford to deploy a SAN and then fork out another wad of cash to do business continuity and disaster recovery. To this end, DataCore believes that its new solutions fill the large void in the market that exists for reasonably priced business continuity and diaster recovery solutions.
