Adaptec Snaps Up Its SMB Line

January 23, 2007: Adaptec has launched the Snap Server 650, a product designed to take the lead in their recently refreshed Snap Server product line for SMBs.

Adaptec says their latest product has them breaking ‘through the performance barrier for network storage,’ as it is optimised for demanding data protection applications such as email archiving, video surveillance and long distance disaster recovery.

The 650 scales to 64.2 Terabytes, a capacity that Adaptec says, will allow SMBs to enjoy the same abilities as enterprise-class storage systems. Built on the AMD Opteron architecture, the 650 provides a base capacity of 1.2 Terabites with serial attached drives.

Integrated in the Snap Server 650 is a full suite of integrated data protection solutions to ensure the system takes advantage of antivirus, backup and recovery and data recovery capabilities.

Steve Terlizzi, general manager and vice president, Storage Solutions Group at Adaptec says the 650 represents Adaptec’s commitment to addressing the mid-range market. “Business shouldn’t have to compromise on performance or data protection functionality in order to get what they need,” he says. “That’s why we remain committed to delivering the industry’s best mid-range storage solutions through the Snap Server brand.”
