Hitachi Enhancement

January 23, 2007: Hitachi Data Systems has made a 20 percent enhancement to its mid-range AMS1000 storage system.

The performance enhancement will affect the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage, model AMS1000 that was first introduced in April 2006. Hitachi says it’s significant because will reduce costs and increase efficiency by allowing users to consolidate more data on a single platform

In order to boost the performance of demanding applications such as medical imaging and video-on-demand, the AMS1000 has a 4 Gigabit per second fibre channel SAN connectivity.

Hitachi says the AMS1000 is the most flexible mid-range storage system currently on the market and makes the bold assertion that no other storage vendor can provide such an integrated solution for the market without the addition of external appliances and host software.
