Australian Base For AG Japan Office

December 11, 2006: Software AG has returned to Asia by opening a Tokyo based office. Building on an Asia Pacific and Japan growth strategy, the Japanese office will be supported by the Sydney regional headquarters.

Back in 2004, Software AG moved Asia Pacific headquarters from Hong Kong to Australia. The vendor told IDM at the time that it was a move designed to curb the static growth of the Asian market and build on the Australia customer base which was then, AG’s biggest market in the region.

With over 200 customers in Japan, growth now appears to have powered ahead in Asia. Software AG says the branch out in to the Japanese market is to build on its regional growth strategy in the Asia Pacific region. As the world’s number two IT market, AG expects the as strong Japanese customer base to contribute between $24 and $35 million per annum to group revenue.

John O’Malley, general manager of Software AG for Asia Pacific and Japan believes having a hand in on the Japanese market is an important step for extending the reach of company. “With out Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach to Legacy Modernisation and Business Integration we are confident that we have the ideal product portfolio to fully support our large customer base in Japan.”

The Sydney regional office already supports six regional offices in the region including China, Hong Kong the Philippines and Singapore.
