Infortrend Releases iSCSI to SATA Solution

October 5th, 2006: RAID storage specialist Infortrend has released a new 16-bay iSCSI-to-SATA external subsystem that it claims is powerful, secure and simple to integrate into existing Ethernet networks.

The latest addition to its line of EonStor RAID storage products, Infortrens claims that the ES A16E-G2130 delivers storage flexibility, ease of management, and configuration simplicity, while ensuring maximum security and protection for business-critical data.

The company also says that it is ideal for building a shared storage pool for disk-to-disk volume distribution, data backup, storage consolidation, and replication among networked servers.

With the ES A16E-G2130, Infortrend has merged its RAID technology with iSCSI’s flexibility. It uses the company’s latest ASIC400, a 933MHz PowerPC GL CPU plus four Gigabit Ethernet ports in conjunction with built-in RAID6 and EonPath multi-pathing software to give it healthy combination or power and data protection.

Infortrend claims that this combination results in a cost-effective storage solution that seamlessly integrates into existing Ethernet networks.

“Infortrend designs RAID storage products that offer an attractive mix of performance, flexibility, and capacity to the market,” says Tony Chu, president of Infortrend Corporation. “The new EonStor A16E subsystem gives small- and medium-sized businesses a combination of data protection and ease-of-maintenance along with iSCSI connectivity that reduces the total cost-of-ownership of a typical SAN.”
