StoneFly Encrypts IP SAN

June 20, 2008: Integrated storage area network (SAN) provider StoneFly has introduced its first high-availability IP SAN with encryption, saying it can help combat the “rising tide of data security breaches.”

The company says its SAN-based encryption capabilities give enterprise customers another layer of protection to combat security breaches, both internal and external, while also simplifying compliance initiatives.

“There is a widely-held belief that the internal network is safe, and that additional disk protection is unnecessary to protect SANs residing on the corporate intranet,” said Bahman Jalali, Director of Product Management for StoneFly.

“The reality is that the internal network isn't as secure as we once thought, and protecting all disks in an organisation - from desktops, to notebooks and server data - simply makes good business sense."

Currently part of its Integrated Storage Concentrator (ISC) line of high-availability IP SANs, the firm says that the new solution will also be offered with other IP SANs later this year.
