BMC Software Tops Field In Gartner Report

September 19th, 2006: Sydney’s BMC software has announced that it has been listed by Gartner as the leading vendor of IT service desk/help desk and asset management software in the in Asia Pacific region.

The result has been gleaned from Gartner’s IT Service Desk 2006 report, which shows BMC leading the IT service desk/help desk market with 26.6 percent share in the market. 9.8 percent ahead of its nearest competitor. The company is also the leading the asset management market with an 18.6 percent share as of 2005.

Gartner’s report evaluated over 50 vendors offering solutions in the IT service desk space, and found that the IT operations management market in Asia Pacific will outperform the worldwide average growth rate, with a 14 percent annual increase expected between 2005 and 2010.

It has also predicted asset management to record the fastest grow in this period, with a compound annual growth rate of more than 27 percent. This is due largely, according to Gartner, to traditional incident management ticketing systems no longer delivering the functionality demanded by mid-range and enterprise organisations. It says customers are demanding richer suites of IT service management solutions as they work to cut costs and improve IT service and support.
