HP Shows Off Network Storage For SMBs

September 20th, 2006: HP says it has dramatically simplified networked storage for small and medium sized businesses with the release of its StorageWorks All-in-One storage system.

According to HP, the AiO delivers a simple, application-centric storage management system that enables SMBs with limited or no storage expertise to store, share, manage, back up and protect their exponentially expanding data archives in a more flexible and consistent way.

HP says that more than 60 percent of SMBs have not deployed networked storage, and since IDC is predicting the market will be worth US$5.7 billion by 2010, it is aiming to address this opportunity directly with the AiO.

AiO Storage Systems handle all storage tasks via a graphical interface and are specifically designed to manage storage in Microsoft environments. This for one means point-and-click tools for Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server so an administrator can set up shared storage for an Exchange mailstore in less than 10 clicks.

For back up and recovery, a full version of HP StorageWorks Data Protector Express Software is integrated into AiO systems to enable data back up and recovery from tape, virtual tape, optical or external disks on the network. AiO systems also run Windows Storage Server 2003 R2, enabling replication from one system to another for disaster recovery.

“With these systems, HP is now the benchmark for storage solutions for SMBs,” says Bob Schultz, senior vice president and general manager for HP StorageWorks Division. “Developed from the ground up to address the specific problems SMBs face, the HP All-in-One Storage Systems deliver functionality without the complexity of competing offerings.”

HP StorageWorks AiO Storage Systems are available now through HP's channel resellers.
