Storage management software vendor, Acronis, has announced the launch of the Acronis True Image Software Development Kit, which provides an extensible set of components that cover a wide range of functionality.

The SDK offers such features as:

  • Fast application development
  • Easy integration into an existing IT environment
  • Automation of data backup and recovery potations in a corporate environment
  • Flexible customization for a customer's specific tasks and needs
  • Efficient management of disks and partitions on corporate PCs and servers

The kit, available from Acronis, includes management tools, sample scripts and full documentation. Also included is the Acronis True Image Agent, which allows you to execute local and remote backup and restore operations, as well as support for the Acronis Secure Zone, a special hidden partition for storing backup archives on the same computer being imaged.

"The release of the Acronis True Image Software Development Kit underscores the company's growth and market desire for the company's leading edge imaging technology," said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Developers and corporate IT departments have been asking for new ways to incorporate our technology into their products and business environments. We see this not only as solid endorsement of our technology, but also recognition that our ease of use and feature set match the needs of the corporate IT environment."

"The Acronis True Image SDK is fully customisable and allows software developers and original equipment manufacturers to create their own applications powered by Acronis True Image," added Luis Andrade, director of OEM sales. "The SDK allows developers to integrate their own user interfaces, administrative tools and customized tasks while maintaining their own distinctive products."
