Symantec Offers Compliance Package

June 14th, 2006: Symantec has announced a set of security and availability tools and services that it says, helps cut the cost of compliance through more efficient governance of internal processes.

Made up of Symantec BindView Policy Manager, Control Compliance Suite, Security Information Manager, Enterprise Vault, IM Manager, Symantec Enterprise Protection, Symantec On-Demand Protection, Symantec Sygate Network Access Control, Symantec Client Security and NetBackup, Symantec says its solution enables costs savings through automation and centralisation of information.

In particular, Symantec says that automation of policy management, IT controls assessment, data collection, policy enforcement, and documentation retention provides a consolidated view of IT compliance within an organisation. This reduces the need to go to multiple data owners and managers for this information, and because it is collected in a consistent, sustainable manner, reporting inaccuracies are also reduced.

Citing survey results from Securitycompliance.com, Symantec says that mandates governing data privacy and protection affect 60 percent of organisations.

“Symantec clearly understands the many challenges customers are facing in trying to achieve and sustain a high level of IT compliance,” says Arshad Matin, vice president, compliance and security management, Symantec Corp. “Over time we have put together a set of offerings to address the issues with managing IT compliance in a thorough and continuous fashion.”
