Instant Messaging Protection

June 15th, 2006:Instant Messaging security protection as a service. Growing IP and security loophole taken seriously in our region.

MessageLabs is taking its message - and its service - to protect the organisations from security threats with the introduction of its Enterprise Instant Messenger (EIM). Instant Messaging has not been seen as problem in the region for some time, mainly because many companies are not fully aware that their staff are using applications such as MSN Messenger, ICQ, Trillian or Yahoo Messenger.

However, according the MessageLabs, "Analysts estimate that more than 100 million people use IM in the enterprise sector, a figure which is expected to increase at an annual rate of between 23 to 40 per cent over the next four years."

EIM enables organisations to integrate messaging security and management - including IM, email and web - externally using its own servers and data centres.

The MessageLabs EIM Service is available in three bundles:
EIM Communicate - Provides the ability to securely chat and exchange files with other users within the same organisation and includes the MessageLabs POD (Professional Online Desktop) client and EIM File Sharing function.
EIM Connect - Allows users to connect with users outside of the EIM network, through a variety of platforms and includes EIM Interoperate, EIM Logging and EIM SMS.
EIM Collaborate - Gives users the ability to work with a full suite of communication products in a single interface and provides integration with additional applications such as WebEx and SalesForce.
