CA Buys Into Records Management

June 14th, 2006: Computer Associates International (CA) is making inroads into the records management and compliance arena with its recently announced purchase of New Jersey (U.S.)-based MDY Group International.

Quoting a Forrester report that, 'projects the records management market to grow at compound annual growth rate of 84% to (U.S.)$1.3 billion in 2008', CA has announced that it wants a chunk of the action.

MDY Group, formed in 1998, produces MDY FileSurf, an RM application that uses its own central repository to store records. The common repository for different levels and types (and applications) of data - with email a central focus, is fast becoming the main strategy for vendors. In the United States the product is already used in a variety of market areas from government to pharmaceutical.

MDY's record management technology complements CA's email management, file management and discovery solutions, enabling customers to fulfil compliance policies and discovery demands-without incurring data migration costs or executing large-scale infrastructure changes.
