Google Gangs Up To Search Storage
July 14th, 2006:Google teams up with storage search specialist, Kazeon to provide enterprise grade federated search 'deep within the storage infrastructure'.
Google's OneBox - which is the application that enables users to see specialised data such as share prices and local weather reports - is already familiar and is now augmented by Kazeon's Server1200 information server to provide consolidated results for the Enterprise.
Kazeon has a perceived technological edge that could benefit Google's plans to escape pigeon-holing as simply the Internet's search engine. According to Kazeon, 'Unlike end-user search tools designed for knowledge management solutions, the Kazeon Information Server deeply integrates with the storage infrastructure and is tailored for tasks such as file recovery and information discovery'.
The familiarity of the Google end-user interface will frame the search results which the integrated product can produce by indexing and retrieving data from archives and even disk backups across a range of storage clusters and islands within the Enterprise network.
