New BladeCenter Kit For SMBs

May 11th, 2006: IBM has announced that it is delivering a new range of BladeCenter offerings to SMBs that are easier to use and more affordable to manage.

IBM says that integrating servers, networks, storage and applications in one system, BladeCenter “simplifies computing environments significantly and helps lower IT costs by providing businesses of all sizes access to highly efficient computing capabilities at an affordable price point.”

As part of the BladeCenter announcment, IBM hasreleased what it claims is the industry's lowest-priced, entry-level networking switch, the IBM Server Connectivity Module for IBM BladeCenter. It has also announced the availability of new Windows management technology for BladeCenteras and a new service offering called the IBM Implementation Services Servicepac for BladeCenter which aims to help SMBs deploy BladeCenter infrastructure.

"IBM is delivering the industry's top SMB technology, customised to speed customer migration from sprawling servers and quickly drive the benefits of integrated computing," says Doug Balog, vice president and business line executive for IBM BladeCenter. "BladeCenter gives SMBs simplicity and the flexibility they need to compete against larger businesses and drive business innovation."
