Brocade Upgrades MyView Access Management

May 22, 2006: Brocade Upgrades MyView Access

May 22nd, 2006: U.S. version ships with simplified compliance management. Asia Pacific release to be confirmed.

Keeping up with the trend to increased compliance, the latest incarnation of Brocade's MyView (3.0) is ready to ship in North America.

MyView is a resource access management solution designed both to enable improved file access controls for IT and security administrators and to provide tools to streamline reporting of access authorisations for compliance audits. The software provides individual users with a "personalised" view of enterprise resources they can access in a network, and gives administrators powerful tools to monitor access rights and improve overall network security. The new release of Tapestry MyView includes enhanced capabilities for better security practices and simplified auditing for U.S.-based compliances such as Sarbanes-Oxley, FISMA, HIPAA, PIPEDA and other compliance requirements.

Tapestry MyView integrates with Microsoft® Active Directory's security model and user credentials to allow administrators to more easily create personalised views and namespaces for authorised file access. The product also provides automated generation to a comprehensive Global Resource Access Matrix (GRAM). This identifies the individuals and their respective access rights to specific file resources across the distributed enterprise based on identity management, user credentials and security permissions. The solution scales to support thousands of users and resources across the enterprise and dynamically computes user and resource access changes.

"Tapestry MyView enables a greater level of security and compliance," says Brian Garrett, analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "The largest percentage of data in corporate environments is unstructured or file data, which may comprise 60 to 80 percent of all enterprise data, and Brocade is clearly adding capability to manage this more efficiently and securely."
