April 4th, 2006:SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association) ANZ announces a new board line-up in time to drive the SNW Show.

The new Chair is Jacob Van der Eyk from CA, Vice Chair is Clive Gold from EMC, Secretary is Bert Noah from Acer and the Treasurer is Ross Harper from HDS. A new appointment of executive director of SNIA ANZ has been made. Rob Stirling has been appointed executive director responsible for the day to day running of SNIA.

Mr Van der Eyk is quoted in the supporting press release, "We are witnessing a huge growth in our SNW (Storage Networking World) event scheduled for September 2006 with a big move to more user-centric presentations, greater support from delegates and increased vendor support in the exhibition area.

"SNIA is being seen increasingly as an educator and standards setter in storage and now data management. We are partnering with the records management folk at RMAA to help users with the transition of data and metadata from application to repository.

"We are taking the education theme to a higher plane with the announcement of our SNIA Academy Program in ANZ. Starting in May we will hold one day tutorials for users around both countries allowing the storage user to hear unbiased findings and advice from SNIA on such topics as email management, ILM, data security and IP storage.

"SNIA is also embracing the end user community even further with its co founding of the first Storage Networking User Group (SNUG) in Australia, and its decision to go ahead later this year with the first survey of storage users in ANZ."
