Fujitsu Shows Off 10-Gigabit Ethernet

April 24th, 2006: Fujitsu Microelectronics America will be presenting its prototype 10-Gigabit Ethernet switch at this years Server Blade Summit in Garden City, California.

The single-chip 10Gbps switch will be demonstrated on Celestica’s ATCA 10 Gigabit Ethernet hub AMC carrier blade. Fujitsu says that by standardising hardware components, product time to market can be improved while hardware R&D costs reduced.

“We are pleased to represent the leading edge of ATCA standards, with our 10GbE switching products underscoring our leadership commitment to the ATCA architecture and to bladed server applications,” says Keith Horn, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Fujitsu Microelectronics America.

“Fujitsu’s MB87Q3140 10Gbps Ethernet switch-on-chip products are becoming the chipsets of choice for a growing number of prominent blade server OEMs and ODMs, including Celestica. We are working closely with these customers to further advance the state of the art in ATCA-based systems.”
