Survey Reports Storage Spending Flat in 2006

January 10, 2006: A new Merrill Lynch survey maintains that despite increased demand for enterprise storage, spending will remain consistent with 2005 at 10.1 per cent of total spend.

The survey, which took into account the opinions of 100 senior IT professionals from the US and Europe shows that, at least in these markets, storage spending - while up from 2004's 8.9% of total - is due to flatten.

IBM and EMC are seen as top dogs in the Enterprise space, while Hewlett Packard under the new guidance of Mark Hurd, are seen as the big improvers in the area. HP's EVA storage product was roundly praised.
