HP Strengthens Open Source Alliance

January 18, 2006: HP has announced that it has extended its agreement with open source enterprise software provider JBoss, bringing worldwide support to its enterprise middleware suite across all HP platforms.

With an expected start data of late February 2006, HP will be providing worldwide support services for the entire JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite of products for Linux, Windows and HP-UX 11i.

As part of the announcement, HP says that it will certify JBoss Application Server for its UX 11i Open Source Reference Architecture, and act as a single point of contact for customers. It will also offer consulting services such as design, implementation, and migration planning for the JEMS platform.

"By partnering with key open source companies like JBoss, HP is enabling customers to confidently implement integrated open source solutions on three powerful computing platforms." Says Christine Martino, vice president of Open Source and Linux for HP.

HP was the first major Linux vendor to certify JBoss. Since then, the company has further extended support with today's agreement pushing JEMS certification and support across all HP platforms.
