Records Management Software, For Free?

February 1, 2006: Australia’s 80-20 Software has announced the release of its gratis records management software, 80-20 Retention Server.

Retention Server enables indexing, linking, searching and storage of important information. It automates the records management process by applying information retention policies and enables complete and immediate access to important information, automatically disposing of records when their legal lifecycle is over.

Like 80-20’s Compliance Server, Retention Server can be deployed using both the free Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.

“With the combination of Windows SharePoint Services and a free retention management offering from 80-20, customers can benefit from a highly effective solution for enterprise records management,” says Adam Bogobowicz, senior product manager for Windows SharePoint Services at Microsoft Corp.

Retention Server is available for free now, and can be downloaded from 80-20’s website.
