Secrets of Australian IT Winners
December 19, 2005: The fourth Annual secrets of IT competition has come to a close. And with its sunset comes a bight dawn to 22 innovative Australian IT companies.
The competition attracted 117 applications from all States and Territories and was judged by a panel drawn from leading technology practices, venture capital community, media, market research organisations and major overseas corporations.
Speakers including Peter Harrison from Austrade, Senator Helen Coonan, Matthew Michalewicz from SolveIT Software and Joe Kremer from Dell Australia praised Australia’s buoyant ICT industry, and encouraged the winners to harness the momentum of their awards.
“This year’s finalists have clearly shown what great ideas combined with dogged determination can produce.” Said Hon Helen Coonan, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. “The challenge for local industry is to capitalise on this enormous opportunity and I am eager to assist the industry to make the most of these opportunities.”
“Australia’s ICT sector is a classic example of how Australian business is evolving to meet the challenges – and reap the rewards – of rapidly changing global markets.” Said Peter O’Byrne, Managing Director, Austrade. “Australian ICT innovation touches all parts of the Australian economy and our export community – including our most traditional export industries.”
