Interwoven Releases New Records Manager

Nov 24, 2005: Interwoven has just released its new Records Manager (IRM) 5.0 product, seeing a move from workgroup collaboration into a more targeted record management market area.

IRM 5.0 enables firms to achieve both compliance and better risk management. It does this by integrating its existing products (such as Worksite) more tightly. Through this unified platform it is able to incorporate both paper and electronic records management.

The software is currently being trialled in Australia and New Zealand. It is totally Microsoft Windows and Office integrated, and is customisable. IDM saw a demonstration of its implementation in legal practice – and was impressed.

Each legal practice tends to operate in its own esoteric way. IRM 5.0 allows them to continue their everyday processes while simultaneously introducing compliance. It consolidates all documents, emails, records, billing, contacts and all other relevant material into a single integrated file that is accessible internally, externally and across all departments. And everything can be tracked with a barcode module.

Records management is increasingly moving to the front office due to the explosion in electronic content and emerging regulations that apply the same compliance requirements to electronic content that were previously applied to paper.

“The explosion of content, rise in litigation, and changing regulatory environment are making it critical for firms to think holistically about managing records – paper, electronic, and email” said Jeffry Schwarz, IT partner, McDermott Will & Emery LLP.

Interwoven Records Manager 5.0 allows them to do this, without forcing unhealthy changes in business processes.
