Sept 07, 2005: Computer Associates International has released new software that aims to enable organisations to manage and protect information and storage assets while keeping in line with business objectives.

BrightStor r11.5, is built around 13 tightly integrated and enhanced products to help organisations deal with the ever growing pace of storage optimise efficiency of storage operations and reduce costs through streamlined virtual tape automation and simplified administration of storage assets.

Anders Lofgren, the senior vice president of BrightStor storage management solutions at CA, said that to maximise the value of their storage infrastructure investments, customers need to proactively manage their storage environments in a manner that is closely aligned with how stored data is used by the business.

"CA's BrightStor r11.5 provides businesses with actionable intelligence and robust automation to ensure the continuous availability of information while helping to control IT costs."

BrightStor ARCserve Backup r11.5 simplifies the setup and management of both disk-to-disk and disk-to-disk-to-tape backup processes, which increases operational efficiency and performance while allowing IT to take advantage of cost-effective disk technologies and achieve service level objectives.

BrightStor Storage Command Centre will be available later in the year, and this aims to provide intuitive, business-centric insight into the enterprise storage environment, transforming raw technical information into an intuitive "dashboard" that lets IT management quickly assess performance and understand how storage assets are supporting key business processes.
