UK government embraces Objective 7

Sep 07, 2005: The UK National Archives has given its approval to Objective 7 being used by the UK government to ensure that information can be managed adequately and in a much more efficient manner.

The National Archives, known for holding historical and political documents of important to the UK, also tests electronic records management systems against more than 400 functional requirements.

Public Sector organisations have to fulfil strict legislation with regard to their management of records and documents and must contend with issues not often faced by the private sector.

This includes the vast number of records they must hold in comparison to many other organisations.

Gary Fisher, the CEO of the Objective Corporation in Europe, said that the TNA approval is regarded as the most stringent test any ERM product has to face and he is delighted with the approval.

"Objective is a very broad and flexible ECM solution capable of meeting an organisation's diverse needs for knowledge retention and management. This approval is testament that Objective also provides the depth of functionality to meet the most stringent requirements of particular marketplaces, all within a single user interface and technical architecture."

Fisher hopes that this will be the start of a new wave of new contracts to be signed in the UK's public sector.
