Permabit and QStar integrate compliance and disaster recovery strengths

Jul 14, 2005: Permabit and QStar Technologies have joined forces to create a partnership that aims to serve the compliance and disaster recovery needs of users so that data is better protected and processes are automated.

Permabit's Permeon Compliance Store will be combined with QStar's Data Director to allow users to write archive data to both tape and a system-independent disk format.

The aim of this is to improve both data security and portability for disaster recovery and compliance purposes.

Laura DuBois, the director of product management at Permabit, said that the company is excited to be working with the QStar team to extend the functionality of the Permeon system.

"By integrating our two leading products, customers can now use cost-effective storage media while ensuring that their compliance data and fixed content is secure and accessible.

Todd Deveney, the vice president of sales at QStar Technologies, added that when the two products are coupled together, customers are able to make use of a proven archiving solution.

"The solution directly addresses two driving corporate issues: regulatory compliance and the cost of managing archives. Together, our products manage archives on all types of media in a revision-secure environment, while driving down the cost to do so with a feature-rich solution that is easy for the customer to install and use."

The new solution also provides a transaction logging cache, event-based mirroring, automatic re-synchronisation of data and load balancing.
