Betting company impressed with invoicing enhancement

Aug 01, 2005: UNiTAB has implemented the Esker DeliveryWare Platform to help it automate document delivery so that invoices can be sent off automatically via fax to reduce manual processes.

UNiTAB is an Australian gaming and betting organisation that holds authorised licences in New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory and South Australia to conduct sports and race wagering and fixed odds sports betting by the Internet, telephone and through its retail network.

It acquired Maxgaming, a subsidiary of TAB Limited, which meant that on January 1st, 2005, UNiTAB had to embark on a six month migration programme to integrate all areas of the two organisations and relocate computer systems form Sydney to the Brisbane head office.

Stephen Lawrie, the group general manager of technology for UNiTAB Limited, said that the magnitude of the task, to merge all areas of the two businesses, mean that the organisation needed reliable suppliers and partners to see them through the process.

"We looked to the most successful aspects of the separate businesses to determine our way forward and Esker's solutions had worked well for TAB and stood out as an effective business tool."

The Esker solution was implemented across the larger UNiTAB business, based on the success achieved at TAB.

It is now used by UNiTAB in the same way that TAB Limited used it, which is to automate the delivery of its monthly invoices to customers which, for UNiTAB, includes some 400 registered clubs, pubs and other gaming venues throughout Australia.

So far, the Esker Fax Server solution automates fax communication and eliminates lost time being spent on manually printing and faxing invoices.

Lawrie added that employees could now be more productive and are not bogged down by manual and time consuming tasks as simple as standing at the fax machine.
