MaXXan rolls out tasty new SAN switch

Apr 28, 2005: Storage networks and applications can be more easily integrated and managed to help with disaster recovery and storage consolidation through the release of a new intelligent SAN switch by MaXXan Systems.

The MXV250 intelligent SAN switch is aimed at midrange IT environments and combines a director-class 16- to 64-port Fibre Channel switching environment with the Falconstor IPStor software suite and the MaXXan SANCruiser management software.

The IPStor software delivers mission-critical storage applications such as remote replication, virtualisation, synchronous and asynchronous mirroring, snapshot, point-in-time copy and NAS.

The new MXV250 switch allows users to scale up to advanced storage applications while maintaining a single point of management control.

Nancy Hurley, the senior analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group, said: "ESG research indicates that end users are overwhelmingly interested in adopting intelligent data services in the fabric, yet cost and complexity has been a deterrent to adoption.

"MaXXan is addressing this issue with the MXV250 by providing a cost-effective, midrange SAN storage solution with integrated storage applications. Mid-sized organisations and even enterprise organisations that need to more effectively manage data at remote sites can benefit from the adoption of MaXXan solutions."

Ravi Chalaka, the vice president of marketing at MaXXan added that the midrange IT environments have the same requirements for deploying and managing mission-critical solutions as larger data centres.

"The MXV250 is directly addressing the needs of this market by delivering fully integrated, tested and supported disaster recovery, storage consolidation, disk-based backup and NAS solutions with a modular SAN switch."
