Iomega REVs up storage servers

Mar 31, 2005: Iomega Corporation has improved its NAS 200d series by adding a built-in Iomega REV 35GB drive, for backup and archiving, increasing the capacity up to 750 gigabytes and allowing it to manage an unlimited number of network printers.

It is aimed at helping medium-sized business, remote offices and departmental workgroups improve productivity though faster, more efficient information and file sharing.

Wayne Arvidson, the director of professional storage services at Iomega Corporation, said that they have kept the features customers loved about the 200d, which is the small size and quiet operation, and have added features that deliver improved value and a better backup and archiving experience.

"The forgotten piece of the puzzle in many businesses is the ability to back up the day-to-day work that maybe located on client PCs rather than on a centralised server. Iomega's Automatic Backup Pro (IAB Pro) software makes it happen automatically without any impact whatsoever on administration costs."

The IAB Pro software gives each client PC on the network the choice of continuous backup or scheduled backup to the 200d server. It also makes backups of multiple file revisions.

According to Iomega, the NAS 200d models features the same desktop design and all NAS 200d servers come standard with Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 for seamless integration into Windows networks.
