Imation chews on Asia-Pacific market thanks to Exabyte

Feb 24, 2005: Imation will become an authorised reseller of Exabyte's VXA and Magnum (LTO Ultrium) drives, libraries and media in the Asia-Pacific region thanks to a new expanded deal.

These products will include stand-alone VXA-2 Packet Drives and VXA PacketLoaders as well as Exabyte's robust line of Magnum LTO libraries.

Nobuyoshi Kawasaki, the executive managing director of the Asia Pacific for Imation Corporated, said: "In November of 2003, Imation and Exabyte entered into an agreement that established Imation as the exclusive worldwide distributor of Exabyte brand media products.

"Today's announcement marks another step in our growing relationship and is another example of Imation's commitment to deliver the broadest portfolio in removable data storage media products to our customers in Asia.

"We see strong growth potential in the rapidly modernising and upgrading enterprise networks in Asia."

Imation believes that with over 50 years of experience in removable data storage, strong distribution channels, and deep customer knowledge, it is well positioned to service the customer needs for greater data storage and protection solutions within the region with Exabyte's products.

Chris Wening, the Asia-Pacific sales director for Exabyte Corporation, added: "Exabyte's VXA and Magnum products have garnered widespread acclaim in product reviews and have been adopted by major OEMs, including IBM, Apple and Fujitsu.

VXA Packet drives and autoloaders deliver transfer speeds up to 43GB per hour, allowing network administrators to backup 160GB of data in less than four hours.
