EDS Agility Alliance boosted by new allies

Jan 24, 2005: The future development of IT services has been boosted by the addition of Oracle, SAP and Siebel to the EDS Agility Alliance, providing the Alliance can fulfil its ambition of setting a new benchmark for new IT inventions.

These global companies join Cisco, Dell, EMC, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and Xerox under the umbrella of the alliance.

The partners have developed a formal multidimensional governance program, which aims to create improvements in many areas of the business, such as sales, marketing and communications and technology. It also intends to provide a framework for multilateral collaboration.

J. Michael Lawrie, the chief executive officer at Siebel said: "Our participation in the EDS Agility Alliance perfectly aligns with our strategy to form and sustain long-term business partnerships with technology leaders.

"EDS' approach to next-generation IT service delivery will drive extraordinary value to alliance member customers through the deployment of standardised, highly competitive offerings."

Bernd-UWE Pagel, the senior vice president of global business process outsourcing at SAP AG, added: "The EDS Agility Alliance partnership represents a significant opportunity for companies to take advantage of SAP's market-leading solutions in combination with services and solution offerings from EDS and the alliance partners.

"This results in the delivery of software and services, which provide the fast ROI, flexibility and innovation that today's customers are seeking."

EDS, SAP and Sun Microsystems, recently joined forces to support the transformation of Infineon Technologies AG's global HR functions to provide better flexibility to manage the demands of the cyclical semiconductor industry.

The EDS Agility Alliance partners are currently implementing an application modernisation and integration project for the Armed Forces Personnel Administration Agency of the U.K.'s Ministry of Defence. Working with Oracle, EDS is replacing outdated systems that support over 600,000 active and inactive military personnel.

These examples demonstrate the sheer scale of the alliance's project, and provide an insight into the possibilities that could be utilised in Australia too.
