New IIM Secretariat appointed to embrace future vision

The Institute for Information Management has appointed a new Executive Officer, with a strong history of dealing with trade associations throughout Australia, to help raise the profile of the organisation over the next 12 months.

The Chairman of the IIM, Robert Goode, said that the IIM has a very focused and ambitious vision, which should be boosted by the new presence of Don Blanksby, who officially took over the reigns from Giselle Grynbaum and Brian Morison today.

Giselle Grynbaum and Brian Morison decided that they did want to renew their contracts after seven years of service, which have been praised by both the chairman and the new appointee.

Robert Goode spoke about how he is excited about working with Don Blanksy."He brings an enormous amount of experience to our organisations, having on the board of national bodies such as the Diesel Association, the Graduate Management Association and many other major associations.

"We have big plans to expand our presence in Sydney to bring together members and also raise our profile with conferences next May in Melbourne. He will help us to get the message out about information implementation and innovation, which we will focus on next year."

Don Blanksby himself also talked about how honoured he feels about being appointed to this new role: "I know the people there very well and they have done a great professional job over the years. I own a company that specialises in managing associations, so I can bring plenty of expertise to the role. I have had 20 years of working with associations, such as the Trade Association.

"I think it is a great opportunity to be a part of a growth industry such as IT, with records management and sophisticated storage ideas being constantly created all of the time. I am looking forward to dealing with people who are willing to embrace new technologies that are such an important part of the modern world we live in."

The IIM aims to become the definitive Australasian industry source on the information management industry eventually, and to provide that intelligence to its members everywhere.
